Strategic Development

is head of Digital Arts department at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He is a digital media theorist, artist, and photographer with a particular interest in the interaction between technology and consciousness. His most recent solo exhibition was BOS: Constructed Images and the Memory of the South Africa "Bush War", which was shown in Johannesburg, Grahamstown, Stellenbosch and in Cape Town as part of the group exhibition “Not My War” in 2012.

FUK is a Berlin based graphic design studio run by Beata Niedhart, Oliver Spieker and Florian Stolzenhain. We work in all areas of visual communication including identity, webdesign, illustration, editorial and book design, music packaging and exhibition design. Since 2010 our studio is situated in the Stattbad and doing the in-house art direction.

Hanli Geyser


Hanli Geyser is both a lecturer in Game Design and a PhD candidate at the Wits School of Arts. Her research and teaching interests are diverse, spanning many areas of popular cultural production. She is primarily fascinated by the conjunction between visual arts and narrative texts found in hypertext fiction, games, comic books and film.

is a pale Italian based in Berlin who makes a living as a project manager. Getting his first smartphone a few years ago reawakened Lorenzo's childhood love of videogames – the independent game scene has been his passion ever since. If he's not playing with his iPhone, he's probably using it to take pictures. Say cheese!

It is the personal management and oversight of all projects by Caroline and Lara that sets the tone for the company. Tegan Bristow


Tegan Bristow teaches and coordinates the Interactive Digital Media Postgradaute program at the Digital Arts Division at Wits University. In addition to being an academic, Bristow is an artist and developer of interactive digital installation. Bristow is currently writing her PhD on Technology Arts and Culture Practices in Africa with the Planetary Collegium at Plymouth University in the UK. Bristow has exhibited widely, most recently an exhibition titled “Meaning Motion” of interactive art at the Wits Art Museum in Johannesburg.

Festival Director

is the founder and CEO of the brand A MAZE.. He skillfully merges the fields of games and digital art into creative cultural event modules. He is currently working on two annual festivals "A MAZE. / Berlin" and "A MAZE. / Johannesburg". At Republika Fest in Rijeka A MAZE. launched the A MAZE. Indie Pop Up a mobile independent games and games culture festival connected to media art and creative industry events. His main focus lies on the production of playful media events that fill the gap between games, art and technology.
